From 10 to 12 April 2026, R&ZV Naarden together with J/80 Netherlands, will host the 2026 J/80 Open Dutch Championship (ONK) on the beautiful waters of the Gooimeer and Markermeer, near the Harbour of Naarden.
R&ZV Naarden is proud to organize the 10th edition of the J/80 Open Dutch Championship. The class expects well over 25 boats and more than 100 sailors from across Europe, all competing for the national title in the challenging and tactical conditions of the Gooimeer and Markermeer.
For the host nation, the championship promises to be a fierce battle for national honours, with strong competition expected from Belgian and French teams. These teams arrive with additional experience and confidence, having achieved excellent results at the superbly organized J/80 World Championships in Nieuwpoort.
At last year’s event, victory went to Don Juan, sailed by local Naarden brothers De Zeeuw. Silver was claimed by Joyride, sailed by Torsten Nullmeier of R&ZV Naarden, while FunJr, sailed by Bob Jansen, took the bronze.
Will history repeat itself? Or will Dutch, German, Belgian, or French challengers have done enough homework—refining speed and tuning—to push last year’s podium finishers aside? There is little doubt that many of the top J/80 crews currently racing in the strong Frostbite Fleet (20 boats) are already working hard toward that goal.
“As a member of the Regatta Committee of R&ZV Naarden and crewmember of a J/80, I would like to warmly invite you to take part in the upcoming J/80 Open Dutch Championship, to be held from the Harbour of Naarden on the Gooimeer and Markermeer from 10 to 12 April 2026. Our club is fully committed to making this regatta a success. Hosting the largest one-design event in the Netherlands is a unique milestone for R&ZV Naarden.
During the race weekend, competitors will not only enjoy sailing on a magnificent race course, but also a full social programme ashore, including sponsored drinks, a skippers’ dinner, and music. Within the Harbour of Naarden there are excellent accommodation options for crews and companions, such as water lodges, small houses, a campsite, and nearby hotels.
I would also like to express my sincere thanks to the J/80 Netherlands Class Association for once again supporting our bid to host these Championships, as well as to the Harbour of Naarden for their full cooperation and outstanding logistical support.I truly hope many J/80 sailors from around the world will join us for this ‘Open’ Dutch Championship. It is a fantastic venue to sail, and the food, beer, atmosphere, and hospitality are second to none.”, commented the Chairman of the R&ZV Naarden, Rene Kemps.
Registration will take place on Thursday evening and early Friday morning. Racing is scheduled to begin on Friday, 10th of April, with the goal of completing up to twelve races by Sunday, 12th of April 2026, conditions permitting. At the conclusion of racing, the 2026 J/80 Open Dutch Championship title will be awarded, along with trophies for the top Corinthian crews.
